Hindu mythology is a timeless collection of folklore and legends from the many regions of India
that have come down to each generation through an oral tradition of storytelling. Adults know the
exotic stories from their childhood, and pass them along to their eager children; tales of good
versus evil, heroes and villains, gods and godesses, compassion and treachery.
Radhika Sekar's full colour illustrated picture books create the rich visions of jewels and gold,
sumptuous feasts, shining palaces and fantastic creatures not only to stimulate and delight the minds
of little ones but to impart upon them the wisdom and morals of these great legends of the ages.
Radhika Sekar's first children's book "Lord of Beginnings, Stories of the Elephant Headed Deity: Ganesha", (2004) is based on stories that she heard as a child.
Her second book, "Festival of Light, Deepavali Legends from around India" (2005),
describes the origins of Deepavali (or Diwali), one of the most popular festivals in India.
